The MDS Coordinator/ADON is responsible for conducting the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process and developing care plans to assist residents in achieving their highest practicable level of function. The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides support to the Director of Nursing (DON) and oversees the nursing department and resident care and service.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (strongly preferred) or experienced LPN with a minimum one-year nursing experience in a skilled nursing/long-term care facility.
- Prefer Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC) Certification.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with residents, families, all levels of staff and external customers.
- Proficient computer skills essential including the ability to use Point Click Care and conduct online submissions.
- Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must possess a high degree of personal accountability, responsibility and the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing comprehensive activities to residents.
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Strongly preferred to have a current state license to practice as a registered nurse (RN).
- Current CPR certification desired.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in long term care management.
- Ability to lead, motivate, educate, and evaluate others.
- Must have excellent assessment, planning, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills with an understanding of person-centered care.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including periodic weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with team members and outside vendors, clients, other third parties.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to communicate verbally and through written reports and other documents relating to resident, staff, and others.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical journals and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
