- Consulting with medical staff on drug utilization
- Ensuring secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances
- Monitoring for contraindications, incompatibilities, allergies, and dosage errors
- Performing clinical and dispensing activities safely and correctly
- Educating patients on medication use
- Supervising ancillary personnel
- Conducting Drug Utilization Reviews
- Participating in QA review
- Preparing clinical in-services
- Dispensing medications and controlling medication administration and drug distribution
- Acting as liaison with nursing and medical staff
- Providing patient education and counseling
- Checking stock and reordering outdated stock
