Texas A&M International University seeks a Reference and Instruction Librarian to manage day-to-day reference services, train student employees, and teach library instruction sessions. The successful candidate must hold a Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution and have experience providing reference or public service in an academic library setting. This is a non-tenure track fixed-term professional faculty position with an initial appointment of 3 years and renewable for up to five years.
Requirements
- Earned Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in providing reference or public service in an academic library setting
- Ability to provide library instruction and reference support to students and faculty
- Demonstrated potential for advancement in rank
- Experience supervising, training, and coordinating student employees or peer staff
- Experience providing in-person and virtual reference services, including chat-based reference platforms
- Experience designing and delivering information literacy instruction using effective pedagogical approaches
- Familiarity with learning management systems and instructional technologies
- Experience assessing library services or using data to inform service improvements
- Strong desire to serve first-generation students
- One to two years of related professional or paraprofessional library experience
