Texas A&M International University invites nominations and applications for an exceptional financial leader to serve as its next Vice President for Finance and Administration / Chief Financial Officer (VPFA/CFO). Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the VPFA/CFO will play a central role in shaping the University’s future—aligning financial strategy, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability with an ambitious institutional vision.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
- A minimum of 7–10 years of progressively responsible financial management, budgeting and leadership experience in a large, complex organization (higher education experience preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial planning, capital and operating budget processes, and strategic financial modelling.
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, audit processes, regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills—able to present complex financial information to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, develop staff, and build effective partnerships across academic and administrative units.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or master’s in accounting/finance) or equivalent advanced credential.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification.
- Prior experience in higher education finance, preferably in a leadership role as CFO, VPFA or equivalent.
- Experience with debt financing, bond issuance, real estate/asset management, endowment oversight and treasury functions.
- Experience with institutional strategic planning, asset management (physical and financial) and infrastructure/facility oversight.
