The ACLU of Washington is seeking a full-time Campaign Organizer to play a key role in building collective political power to advance shared policy and advocacy goals alongside communities disproportionately impacted by systemic oppression.
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of experience organizing individuals and organizations to collaborate in advancing a shared political goal.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, grounded in emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated success bringing people with diverse perspectives together around common priorities and cultivating genuine, trust-based relationships with communities historically marginalized by systems of oppression.
- Experience supporting, coordinating, and motivating individuals and coalitions to advance timebound political or advocacy objectives.
- Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills paired with deep, authentic listening.
- Experience presenting complex issues to a range of audiences and learning new issue areas with curiosity and agility.
- A track record of collaborating effectively with lawyers, policy advocates, lobbyists, organizers, ACLU-WA activists, and partners across varied identities, lived experiences, and political perspectives.
- Strong group facilitation skills.
- Experience maintaining clarity and organization in a fast-paced environment, coordinating multiple projects, adapting to shifting priorities, and responding to evolving needs.
- Experience engaging in courageous and accountable conversations with colleagues and community partners.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfort learning and using new technologies.
- Understanding of civil liberties and civil rights issues.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively; takes initiative while also welcoming guidance and partnership.
- Demonstrated comfort engaging in candid, thoughtful conversations about equity, privilege, and allyship with communities impacted by systemic oppression.
