Job Description
Registered Nurse position available in Geriatric Psychiatry program in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The program assesses and treats mental illnesses in adults over 65, improving quality of life and recovery for older adults dealing with various conditions.
Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Up to 3 months Nursing Experience
- Knowledge of mental health/addiction issues
- Clear understanding of MHA and relevant legislation
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in psychiatric nursing practice as articulated in the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
- CPR certification within the last 12 months (BCLS at a minimum)
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Problem solving, leadership and management skills in responding to complex and rapidly changing situations
- Sensitivity, skills and experience working with diverse individuals and communities
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
