The Automatic Bagging Operator is a key member of the Canada Supply Chain team responsible for operating and maintaining equipment, performing quality control tests, and communicating with quality control and production teams.
Requirements
- Operating the bagger, palletizer, wrapper, printer, and labelers simultaneously
- Verifying the quality of seals, volume, and weight in the bags and their appearance
- Checking current and upcoming production orders to avoid mix-ups or delays in production
- Ensuring the use of the right packaging and stacking on pallets
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment as needed
- Removing damaged packaged items from the machine and separating rejected items
- Applying identification labels to finished packaged items
- Storing and sorting products for the functioning of packaging or filling machines
- Restocking packaging supplies
- Stopping or restarting machines in case of malfunction
- Clearing machine jams and reporting recurring defects to a supervisor or team leader
- Filling productivity reports as required
- Observing machine operation to ensure quality and compliance with company standards
- Starting the machine by activating commands
- Packaging the product in the form in which it will be shipped
- Counting and recording finished packaged and rejected items
- Cleaning and removing damaged or otherwise substandard materials to prepare raw materials for treatment
- Cleaning packaging containers, aligning and restocking boxes or assembling cartons to prepare product packaging
- Sorting, classifying, weighing, and inspecting products
- Adjusting machine feed rates, speeds, or temperatures
- Providing materials to broaches, conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices and discharging packaged products
- Adjusting machine components and tension and pressure settings based on product size or angle
- Following transportation and storage procedures for packaging reels/film
- Performing quality control tests, such as volume checks, weighing, sealing tests, sampling, and recording data as required
- Collaborating with quality control to recover damaged or broken bags
- Occasionally participating in plastic tests
- Assisting the upper-level operator in palletizing/reworking incomplete pallets
- Regularly communicating with the blending plant or quality control technician in case of product shortages, weight variations, or other quality issues
- Adhering to the company's quality standards and health and safety standards
- Performing all additional tasks assigned
