Referral Coordinator I

The Villages Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator I to coordinate, verify, distribute, and manage all referral services to provide a smooth process for patients. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, 0-1 year of healthcare referrals/medical office experience, and proficient skills in computer programs. Requirements

• Mastered basic job duties and completed competencies.
• Competent in EHR.
• Uses customer service principles and techniques to deal with patients calmly and pleasantly.
• Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals.
• Assemble information concerning patient’s clinical background, referral needs, and provide appropriate clinical information to specialist.
• Act as a point of contact for patients with questions and/or concerns related to regards to referrals and authorizations required.
• Review details and expectations about the referral with patients.
• Contact review organizations and insurance companies to ensure prior approval requirements are met.
• Present necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis, as requested/required.
• Ensure referrals are addressed in a timely manner meeting or exceeding department benchmark.
• Other duties as assigned.
