Job Description
Job Title: Histotechnologist II. Performs routine histological processing of surgical, cytology, autopsy and frozen section of tissue for examination and interpretation by a Pathologist as defined by the standards of the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1998. Performs accessioning of histology, cytology, and autopsy specimens and billing functions into the computer systems.
Requirements
- Perform routine embedding and microtomy of all types of surgical and cytology specimens.
- Perform special stains techniques using automated equipment.
- Assist in the gross room, records each specimen into the log book and loads tissue processors along with verifying the correct program is being run.
- Perform send-out protocol to reference laboratories.
- File all blocks and slides in the department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
