A 12-month, full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Internal Medicine Fellowship position is available in the Department of Medical Education. The Fellowship runs from September 2026 through September 2027. This fellowship program enables advanced practice nurses and physician assistants (APPs) to acquire robust clinical experiences and critical care knowledge base within the multi-faceted critical care areas at UC Medical Center and West Chester Hospital.
Requirements
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team caring for critically ill patients, managing both their acute and chronic health care needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in core knowledge inclusive of assessment, treatment, and coordination of patient care.
- Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
- Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
- Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed.
- Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans.
- Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
- Participate in research and development projects.
- Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.
- Perform related duties based on departmental need.
