Veeco is seeking a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead the mechanical design and development of complex wafer processing equipment. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as experience in project management, mechanical engineering, and people management. The ideal candidate will have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience or an MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 6 years of related experience.
Requirements
- Manage and lead Mechanical Engineering activities within the PSP/Horsham location
- Supervise and mentor team members, including outsourced vendors & consultants
- Define design specifications based on customer requirements and industry standards
- Lead team through all phases of the design process for new product and continuous product improvement programs
- Prepare and present mechanical designs at peer reviews and cross function design reviews
- Interface with electrical, process and software engineering, marketing, and operations teams
- Continually look for opportunities to increase efficiency of the design and build processes
- Support supply chain with mechanical material procurement efforts within project deadlines
- Drive all engineering documentation and deliverables
- Provide technical support for escalations on released products when additional support is requested by Field Service or Operations teams
- Manage internally and externally sourced engineering changes (ECs)
- Resolve obsolescence issues in a timely manner
- Establish goals and performance metrics to improve work product quality and efficiency
- Identify and implement process improvements within the team and across functional interfaces
- Act as a mentor to individual team members, and to the team
- Inspire the team to strive for continuous improvement in innovation, design, and development
