Camp Counselor for Budding Brookies

The Village of Brookfield Parks and Recreation Department is hiring Camp Counselors for Budding Brookies. Under the direction and supervision of the Camp Supervisor, the Camp Counselor is responsible for helping the Camp Supervisor with the day-to-day planning, organizing, and implementing all aspects of this Half-Day Camp.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older.
• Prior experience working with children ages 3-5 years old and/or an interest in education or recreation as a possible career goal.
• Outgoing personality with good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interact with children and teach them in a fun, interactive way.
• Personable and comfortable speaking to children, parents, staff and public of all ages and backgrounds.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to act rationally and calmly in high stress and/or emergency situations.
• Ability to work in a team atmosphere, promoting positive and effective working relationships with staff and the public.
• Flexibility and adaptability to new situations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to follow directions and perform responsibilities as described.
• Time management and organizational skills to effectively perform responsibilities of the job.
• Good safety awareness and use of good judgment in all aspects of this position.
