Job Description
The Oncology Pharmacist will provide oncology pharmaceutical care services using approved protocols in collaboration with other health professionals. Independent thinking and decision-making required. Performs duties in the Infusion Pharmacy assigned.
Requirements
- Process and review all treatment orders accurately and efficiently
- Verify appropriateness during order entry
- Supervise the preparation of commercial IV admixtures
- Maintain high productivity through oversight of pharmacy technician(s)
- Establish and maintain effective communication with pharmacy staff members, other health care disciplines and patients
- Teach and instruct pharmacy and ancillary staff on proper chemotherapy regimen interpretation, order validation, drug preparation and monitoring parameters
- Conduct patient medication history inquiries and drug information requests
- Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the quality or effectiveness of drugs or drug regimens
- Identify, resolve, and prevent potential and actual medication-related problems
