Specialist, Assistive Technology

Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) is a national health services organization dedicated to empowering people who are blind or partially sighted to live safely and independently. The Specialist, Assistive Technology will provide client-centered rehabilitation, mobility training, and daily living skills programs to help clients build confidence and thrive. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, recommending, and demonstrating assistive technology hardware and software for people with vision loss, helping to develop, implement and instruct in assistive software training, and participating in education and awareness activities.

Requirements

• College diploma or university degree in technology
• Courses or certificate in teaching and training
• Graduate of training courses that are designed or delivered by VLRC, or by an external provider on behalf of VLRC
• Extensive knowledge of blindness and low vision assistive technology
• Good command of relevant computer applications
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
