Specialist, Low Vision

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of Canadians living with vision loss? Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) is a national health services organization dedicated to empowering people who are blind or partially sighted to live safely and independently.

Requirements

• Perform functional low vision assessments
• Teach individuals with partial sight how to maximize residual vision
• Recommend and train in the use of optical and non-optical aids
• Educate individuals about their eye condition and vision health
• Refer individuals to other internal and external services
• Handle public inquiries regarding vision health and low vision services
• Conduct research on new optical aids, adaptive equipment, and new findings in the eye care field
• Attend professional development training and conferences as required
• Deliver public speaking seminars and workshops on low vision services and related topics to community agencies/groups and health care professionals
• Interpret medical information
• Perform administrative duties
