Job Description
Waymo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of advanced AI/ML infrastructure for large-scale simulations using foundation models. This role focuses on scaling AI/ML systems, leveraging massive model datasets, and designing distributed systems for data engineering, model training, and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have experience in ML accelerator-friendly simulations and distributed training.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning infrastructure (deep learning)
- Solid experience in developing and optimizing ML infrastructure tools (DeepSpeed, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Ray)
- Expertise in distributed training techniques and optimization strategies
- Experience navigating cross-functional teams and providing technical leadership
