OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (8AM-4:30PM)

The Occupational Therapist will perform various duties, including patient evaluations, treatments, and discharges, and will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of departmental cleanliness and safety.

Requirements

• Communicate effectively with THA staff, Medical Staff, other healthcare professionals, patients and the general public
• Meets patient’s goals and needs and provides quality care
• Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting and evaluating patient’s progress
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
• Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential
• Must be able to relate positively and professionally to patients, families and outside agencies and work cooperatively with co-workers
• Maintain an active interest in professional organizations
• Must be of good moral character
• Willingness to work beyond normal working hours when necessary
• Must be able to work independently and use good time management skills
• Maintains the highest possible level of departmental cleanliness and safety
• Administers occupational therapy per physicians’ orders
• Evaluates patients utilizing observations, patient self-report and standardized measures
• Prepares patient for treatment by proper dress and position
• Applies agents such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot packs, TENS, cold packs, ice massage, spinal manipulation, therapeutic exercise, gait training, therapeutic activity for balance and transfers, tolerance to activity, safety education and HEP
• Communicates with patient throughout treatment and answer all questions
• Check frequently on patient during treatment period to satisfy all patient needs
• Returns equipment and supplies to proper storage area
• Make phone calls to referring physicians for clarification or elaboration of treatment orders
• Assess, distinguish, report, and act upon all patients’ physical care
• Assign patients to staff as needed
• Maintain records pertinent to patient treatment
• Supervise all work of staff
• Care of the physical plant and machinery related to the PT/OT department
• Maintains standards as established by the American Occupational Therapy Association regarding treatment procedure and professional ethics
• Completes OT services in various settings as assigned by Director
• Follows all Policies and Procedures as established within the department/hospital
