Senior Database Engineer (w/m/d)

We are seeking a Senior Database Engineer to join our Core Foundation & Integration Tribe, responsible for implementing and delivering Issuing core applications. As a Database Engineer, you will manage, maintain, and secure the databases used by our software applications, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability. The role involves analyzing database performance bottlenecks, implementing performance improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize queries and data models.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, distributed systems, software engineering, or another equivalent field
• Proven experience as a Senior Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or similar role, with a focus on performance tuning, optimization, security, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts
• Deep expertise in relational databases such as SQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
• Strong understanding of database architecture, indexing strategies, query optimization, and data modeling
• Hands-on experience with performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Knowledge of additional technologies such as Kafka, Qlik, and optionally programming languages like Java and Python
• Proven leadership skills in guiding engineering teams and influencing technical direction
• Ability to document complex systems clearly and comprehensively
• Team player who thrives in collaborative environments, fostering teamwork inside the department and across organizational boundaries
