Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in maximizing their strengths and abilities, upholding their personal rights, and providing emotional support and positive relationships.

Requirements

• Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and abilities
• Uphold personal rights and provide emotional support and positive relationships
• Support individuals in meeting personal goals and characterizing quality of life
• Engage in respectful communications and conversations through person-first language
• Encourage socializing and facilitate activities that provide social capital and connections to the community
• Supervise and protect individuals at all times
• Maintain program guidelines for the protection of individuals
• Facilitate learning and training in fire safety and escalate signs of potential harm
• Ensure health, wellness, and safety
• Provide support in various settings and in accordance with individualized service and behavior support plans
• Implement Behavior Support Plans and protocols
• Collect and record data on individuals' behavior
• Communicate with circles of support, including families and external providers
• Participate in team meetings and maintain a solution-oriented approach
