Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in maximizing their strengths and abilities, upholding their personal rights, and providing emotional support and positive relationships.
Requirements
- Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and abilities
- Uphold personal rights and provide emotional support and positive relationships
- Support individuals in meeting personal goals and characterizing quality of life
- Engage in respectful communications and conversations through person-first language
- Encourage socializing and facilitate activities that provide social capital and connections to the community
- Supervise and protect individuals at all times
- Maintain program guidelines for the protection of individuals
- Facilitate learning and training in fire safety and escalate signs of potential harm
- Ensure health, wellness, and safety
- Provide support in various settings and in accordance with individualized service and behavior support plans
- Implement Behavior Support Plans and protocols
- Collect and record data on individuals' behavior
- Communicate with circles of support, including families and external providers
- Participate in team meetings and maintain a solution-oriented approach
