Direct Support Professional - DSP 1

The Direct Support Professional - DSP 1 provides support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting them in maximizing their strengths and interests, and upholding their personal rights. The DSP 1 works in a full-time capacity, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and is responsible for supervising, protecting, and caring for individuals at all times. The role requires the ability to work in a high-energy environment, remain calm in stressful situations, and develop and maintain professional relationships.

• Assists individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities
• Upholds personal rights, displays patience and tolerance, and provides emotional support
• Supports individuals to meet personal goals, engages in respectful communications, and encourages socializing and community connections
• Provides overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times
• Ensures health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and adhering to applicable policies and regulations
• Provides support in various settings and in accordance with individualized service and behavior support plans
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment
• Assists with various tasks, including personal care, medication administration, and transportation
