Job Description
Direct Support Professional - DSP 1 is responsible for assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, upholding their personal rights, and providing emotional support and building positive relationships.
Requirements
- Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities
- Uphold personal rights and provide emotional support
- Build positive relationships
- Provide supervision, protection, and care of individuals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment
- Assist with various tasks, including personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Administer medication as prescribed
- Teach and develop skills
- Support person-centered advocacy
- Assist in communication, self-expression, and resolving disputes
- Facilitate ethical decision making
- Prepare meals and snacks
- Transport and escort individuals
- Assist with making purchases and safeguarding personal allowance funds
