Direct Support Professional - DSP 1

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role involves assisting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities, while upholding their personal rights and displaying patience and tolerance. The DSP will support individuals in meeting personal goals, engaging in respectful communications, and facilitating activities that promote social capital and connections to the community.

Requirements

• Ability to meet essential physical demands of position
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Enthusiasm for working with people with I/DD
• Willingness to take initiative and demonstrate positivity, patience, and empathy and compassion
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships in alignment with YAI's mission and vision
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and work in a high energy, fast-paced environment
