Senior/Principal Structural Engineer - Technology responsible for conducting applied research and development related to marine and offshore structures, developing technical proposals, and interfacing with government and industry funding agencies. Leads project bidding and execution, develops logical solutions to complex problems, and maintains positive relationships with clients and peers.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering or other related disciplines; M.S. or Ph. D. is preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, university, or classification society
- Professional or chartered engineer license
- Ability to lead project bidding and execution either independently or in a team setting
- Ability to read engineering plans and understand shipbuilding practices and vessel Commands in English
- Essential technical writing skills and experience of preparing formal reports and papers
- Knowledge of department-related technical disciplines
- Knowledge of applicable Rules and regulations and the impact of Rule applications and interpretations
- Knowledge of company business policies and procedures
- The human relations skills necessary to maintain positive relationships with clients and peers
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing
- Ability to develop and implement logical solutions to complex problems
- Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments
