Local Story Team Reporter

The BBC is looking for a journalist to join the team at BBC Hereford & Worcester as part of the Local Story Team. As a journalist, you will help shape coverage across online, radio, social media, and TV, ensuring best stories reach audiences wherever they are. The role involves writing, filming, recording, and editing content to a high professional standard, presenting live or pre-recorded content, and bringing in original story ideas. The ideal candidate will have significant recent experience in broadcast news journalism, strong editorial judgment, and excellent writing skills.

Requirements

• Significant recent experience in broadcast news journalism
• Strong editorial judgment and a clear understanding of the BBC's news priorities and audience needs
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to generate original, creative story ideas
• Confident using social media, with a good understanding of how different platforms can be used effectively to reach and engage local audiences
• Strong video and audio production skills, including filming, recording, editing and assembling content to a high standard
• Ability to perform live in fast‐paced, pressurised environments
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across BBC teams
