Job Description
The Behavioral Health Consultant position involves diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health concerns, designing behavioral health interventions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. This role requires experience with crisis work, risk assessment, and working with high-risk patients in an integrated care setting.
Requirements
- Maintain a visible presence to medical providers
- Assess patients and diagnose mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Create treatment plans for patients
- Conduct brief intervention sessions
- Perform brief, limited follow-up visits
- Refer patients to other healthcare professionals
- Work with family members as part of treatment
- Work with patients in crisis situations
- Complete CSSRS, CALM, and Safety Planning, or other crisis tools
- Attend all required clinical supervision sessions and staff meetings
- Provide counseling services using evidenced-based practices
- Practice measurement-based care
- Maintain credentials with managed care contracts
- Communicate effectively with primary care providers
- Develop understanding and use of basic medical terminology
