Assistant Teacher - Group One (Youth & Family Programs)/Seasonal Employment

The Assistant Teacher - Group One (Youth & Family Programs) is a part-time seasonal employment position at Chautauqua Institution. The position serves as a transition between Children's School and Boys' and Girls' Club, and includes a wide range of activities that nurture the social, recreational, and educational development of children.

Requirements

• Create a safe, welcoming environment in which all program participants, staff members, and families can fully participate.
• Maintain constant supervision of classroom group.
• Attend staff meetings scheduled by program leadership
• Supervise classroom groups for activities outside the typical program spaces
• Manage transition times to and from program facilities
• Provide supervision and activity facilitation for Lunch Bunch
• Work as a team with Group One and Youth & Family Programs staff
• Actively engage with children while attending special program area activities
• Assist with maintaining and organizing program facilities
• Manage group and individual behavior
• Respond quickly and effectively in cases of emergency
• Understand and comply with policies and procedures set forth by Chautauqua Institution and regulations determined by New York State legislation
• Provide additional supervision during waterfront activities
