Special Officer

Special Officers under supervision perform work relating to physical security, safety, loss prevention, and maintenance of order at DOHMH facilities throughout the five boroughs. They may be required to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may be asked to carry heavy equipment and wear a bullet-resistant vest.

Requirements

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent
• Qualification to serve as a Peace Officer by the New York State Criminal Procedure Law
• Satisfying the training requirements established by the State of New York for Peace Officers and obtaining certification
• Maintaining certification for the duration of employment
