Join Commonwealth Fusion Systems as a Metrology Engineer to develop, validate, and deploy inspection methods for highly engineered hardware supporting the SPARC project. As a motivated individual, you will work hands-on with complex parts and advanced measurement systems, partnering closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, and R&D to ensure hardware meets demanding performance and reliability requirements.
Requirements
- Develop and refine advanced mechanical inspection techniques to solve complex measurement challenges
- Qualify and document inspection methods in partnership with Quality Engineering (procedures, work instructions, and evidence of capability)
- Collaborate daily with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to support production readiness and rapid issue resolution
- Support evaluation and selection of new metrology equipment and technologies, including ROI, capability, and implementation planning
- Maintain metrology equipment and standards; execute 5S and calibration/verification activities as applicable
- Provide design-for-inspection input during drawing release, GD&T definition, and development of inspection standards
- Cross-train as a Quality Technician and perform routine inspections as needed to support throughput
- Summarize, visualize, and present critical dimensional inspection results to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Design and procure inspection fixturing and tooling to enable accurate, repeatable measurements
