Job Description
This Public Defender position at the County of Berks provides legal representation for indigent individuals at various hearings and court proceedings. The role involves providing legal advice, preparing defenses, negotiating with clients, and conducting hearings. Training to back up other positions may be required.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor Degree
- Admission to the Pennsylvania Bar
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania Criminal Law (preferred)
- Basic working knowledge of Pennsylvania Criminal Law
- Windows based computer programs
- Good problem solving and organizational abilities
- Good interpersonal and diplomacy skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work with stress
- Physical presence in the office required
- Working environment in Berks County (inside & outside prison)
