Intermediate Mechanical Engineer (Ottawa)

DIALOG is a multi-disciplinary practice of architects, interior designers, urban designers, and engineers who design for community wellbeing and urban vibrancy. We're looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about designing high-performance building systems and leading projects from concept design through to construction.

Requirements

• Design plumbing, drainage, fire protection, heating, ventilation and cooling (HVAC) systems for commercial and institutional buildings across a variety of project types
• Lead and coordinate mechanical design from concept phase through construction documents, taking ownership of your discipline on project teams
• Collaborate with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to deliver integrated, sustainable building solutions
• Perform load calculations, equipment selections, and system sizing using first principles engineering and industry standard software
• Integrate energy modelling, value engineering, and lifecycle costing to optimize mechanical system performance and project budgets
• Manage day to day project activities, including client meetings, presentations, and consultant coordination
• Support construction administration activities including site reviews, shop drawing review, and responding to RFIs and contractor queries
• Mentor EITs and junior designers, contributing to team development and a culture of technical excellence
• Contribute innovative mechanical solutions for green and high-performance building projects
