Senior Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead two cross-functional product development squads working on our Joist product. Joist is an end-to-end vertical software platform for small & medium-sized trades contractors. The successful candidate will contribute to solutions from inception to deployment, and everything in between, with a focus on redefining the home renovation industry.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will guide a team by example, instill values of kindness, quality, and ownership, and provide feedback on how to improve as a team. You will also coordinate and communicate with peers, set clear objectives, and remove roadblocks to deliver projects to customers.

You will work with a distributed team, and must be able to communicate clearly and concisely about technical topics. Bonus qualities include direct experience with our technical stack and background managing teams in companies with multiple product squads.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading engineers as their direct manager in a product development environment
• 5+ years of professional industry experience as a software developer working in agile teams
• A successful record of mentoring and growing other engineers
• A proven ability to take ownership of software projects
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely about deeply technical topics
• Expertise in agile software development processes
