Surgical Technologist 3

The Surgical Technologist 3 prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures, follows hospital regulations, and tends to patients during pre-operation procedures.

Requirements

• Ensure proper equipment, instruments and supplies are provided for procedures and specialty areas.
• Follow proper sterile techniques and maintain a sterile field at all times.
• Provide assistance to the circulating RN with procedure/patient preparation.
• Check instrumentation for accuracy prior to procedure for proper functionality and maintained throughout procedure.
• Capable of competently scrubbing complex cases across all facility specialties
• Demonstrates expert knowledge of surgical equipment and advances surgical instrumentation within major specialties
• Follow AORN guidelines at all times
• Participate in departmental improvement activities and staff meetings
• Provide assistance to the OR staff with room turnovers to help decrease turnover times
• Actively respond to emergency situations and/or trauma procedures in the OR
