We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to provide laboratory services in the Hematology and Flow Cytometry area. The successful candidate will interact with patients and other healthcare workers to ensure the needs of patients are met in a caring and professional manner.
Requirements
- Minimum of a three (3) year Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college.
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
- Ministry of Labour “Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps” training certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in the area of Hematology and Flow Cytometry.
- Demonstrated ability to verify relevant data pertaining to Hematology and ensure appropriate specimens are procured according to established protocols.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application of the principles of microscopy to laboratory analyses as they apply to the Hematology department.
- Demonstrated knowledge in cell morphology with the strong ability to distinguish between normal and abnormal cells.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of medical laboratory sciences basing practice on current techniques and scientific knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, troubleshoot and communicate equipment / reagent related malfunctions and initiate appropriate remedial action.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively analyze QC findings for the purposes of quality control, verification of performance, and implement corrective action as required.
- Demonstrated training, experience or utilization of quality improvement methodology for process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and patient information systems.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated discretion and maturity when handling confidential information.
- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
