The Nurse Practitioner provides care and services at the Urgent Care Centre within their full scope of practice and competencies for clients both independently and collaboratively with a physician(s) and the healthcare team.
Requirements
- 3 years experience as a RN in critical care, ER, acute care or primary care
- 1 year full time experience working as a Nurse Practitioner
- Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP) or Post-Graduate Practitioner Certificate
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- Registered Nurse Practitioner (RN(NP))
- Basic Life Support Level C Certificate (BLS-C)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
- Leadership skills
- Communication skills
- Ability to provide holistic care to individuals,families & the community
- Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change
- Demonstrates empathy, trust and respect in the provision of care
- Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status
- Knowledge in community resources and services in the clinical area
- Demonstrates ability in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
- Knowledge in individual assessment and counselling skills
- Knowledge in evaluating and leading process improvement projects
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrates ability to assess the community for primary care needs.
- Knowledge in health education and its relationship to health status
- Knowledge in critical thinking processes
- Knowledge in applicable best practices and principles for the clinical area
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions
- Knowledge in assessment, treatment, and consultation
- Ability to take initiative
