The Administrative Assistant provides front-line administrative and operational support for the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) at Howard University. This position is responsible for managing daily office operations, including reception and communications, testing and exam administration support, scheduling and calendar coordination, supply ordering, records management, and general administrative support.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of administrative, office management, front-desk, or customer service experience in a busy office environment (higher education experience preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a high-volume, student-facing setting.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and written/oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with exceptionally good judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
- Proficiency with standard office technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, email, calendars, scheduling systems) and comfort learning new systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow privacy requirements and office protocols.
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods, lift and move testing materials/supplies as needed, and support testing operations during peak periods, which may fall outside of normal operating hours.
