The Maintenance Manager plans, organizes, and directs the plant maintenance functions, including engineering, planning, mechanical/electrical leads, technicians, and stores inventory to increase overall equipment availability. The leader of the Maintenance Department reports to the Plant Manager.
Requirements
- Leading the annual development of the maintenance budget and efficiently managing ongoing spending
- Developing and implementing plans to reduce breakdowns, improve planned maintenance, optimize scheduled maintenance, and effectively execute down-day events
- Maintaining the facility in a safe manner and to a standard level of equipment availability
- Reviewing and observing the work of the maintenance employees and directing development/training requirements
- Maintaining close contact with the Production Manager to ensure maintenance activities occur with minimal disruption to production operations
- Recommending and implementing improvements in maintenance and operational procedures
- Touring the plant and all facilities to interact with production, quality, safety, and maintenance to help drive cultural change and to ensure appropriate work is being performed and that customers’ needs are being meet.
- Leads the development, implementation, and sustainability of a predictive and preventative maintenance system
- Reviewing reports and taking appropriate action with regard to daily, weekly, and monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure that the department meets its respective expectations
- Reviewing previous day’s work packages to check for follow-up work and to ensure work orders are correctly closed
- Leading the Down Day-7, Down Day-3, and “What Went Right/What Went Wrong” meetings
- Providing accurate man-hours for each wash-up day, by craft, to facilitate decision-making
- Generating purchase requests for non-stocked parts and tools to support the plan
- Developing storeroom organization surrounding parts kits, including shelving, locations, storage kits, and markings
- Working with storeroom personnel to ensure availability of cost-effective and necessary parts
- Working with storeroom personnel to ensure efficient inventory level maintenance
- Ensuring all work orders have parts kitted
