Job Description
The Clinical Lab Scientist-Transfusion performs and interprets moderate and high complexity tests, reports results and prepares blood products following standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices. The role also involves serving as a technical resource, preceptor/mentor to students, residents, and staff, and performing instrument and equipment calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Requirements
- Knowledge of medical lab standard operating procedures, types of software used, and equipment
- Ability to perform complex clinical lab tests and interpret and analyze data, to determine the clinical significance of test results
- Able to use and maintain specialized lab equipment needed to perform all lab procedures
- Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others
- Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone
- Licensure: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist MTA required, Specialist in Blood Banking SBB (ASCP) preferred
