The Clerk role is varied and involves day-to-day management and performance of the Company, coordinating the business of the Company and the work of its committees, and maintaining the key interface with the Members. The Clerk reports to the Master and has a ceremonial role at the Company's formal functions.
Requirements
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Company
- Coordinate the business of the Company and its committees
- Maintain the key interface with Members
- Support and accompany the Master to civic and livery events
- Underpin the delivery of the membership recruitment and retention strategy
- Facilitate induction, mentoring, and engagement programmes for new and existing members
- Coordinate the Company's online presence
- Maintain good communications with the Membership, the Court, and external stakeholders
- Act as the Company's spokesperson in conjunction with the Master
- Maintain good relations with the Company's affiliations with military educators and cadets
- Undertake efficiently the day-to-day management and administration of the Company
- Use, develop, and manage the Company Website effectively
- Organise and prepare agendas, minutes, papers, and follow-ups for meetings
- Oversee the management and support of Company committees
- Ensure compliance with the Company's Charter, Ordinances, and By-laws
- Maintain registers of members, officers, and other statutory documents
- Support The Educators' Trust when requested
- Support the Court in developing and implementing strategic plans
- Monitor external trends, challenges, and opportunities relevant to Livery and the City of London
- Promote the Company to the wider community, enhancing its reputation and visibility
- Contribute to the development of digital platforms, branding, and outreach activities
- Oversee the finances of the Company
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets, management accounts, and financial reporting
- Monitor income, expenditure, investments, and charitable funds
- Liaise with the Accountant and Treasurer to administer payment, procurement, and contracts
