The Learning Sciences and Assessment department within the National Institute of Education (NIE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites applications for a Research Fellow position. NIE is a global leader in education studies. The successful candidate will be offered a one-year contract, with the possibility of a one-year renewal based on performance. The candidate will work on two ongoing projects related to AI for education, Human-AI collaboration, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
Requirements
- PhD degree in learning sciences, educational technology, human-computer interaction (HCI), information technology, AI or relevant fields
- Prior experience and proficiency in educational data mining and AI for education, with the ability to handle a large amount of data
- Prior experience working with LLMs, including programming, fine-tuning, evaluating and benchmarking
- Demonstrate skills in quantitative research methods, statistical analysis, and computational techniques; proficiency in programming languages such as Python, statistical software such as R, and basic AI/ML development
- Qualitative analysis skills such as conducting interviews, content analysis, and thematic analysis
- Independent, highly analytical, proactive and a team player
- Possess strong verbal, written communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to initiate collaborative research in a multidisciplinary team
- Proven track record with publications in reputable education, AI, or HCI journals or conference proceedings; preferably publications related to human-AI collaboration, game-based learning, problem-solving, learning analytics, or AI ethics
