The Procurement Specialist for Direct Materials is responsible for local sourcing and project management, including the implementation of global sourcing strategies at the site to meet cost targets and ensure sufficient material supply to support production needs.
Requirements
- Source and develop local suppliers for direct materials.
- Negotiate and procure BOM materials, including the implementation of Purchase Orders and contractual agreements such as Consignment and VMI.
- Work closely with Global Sourcing Managers to implement commodity sourcing strategies at the site level.
- Lead project management initiatives by driving cross-functional teams (Supply Chain Management, Engineering/CPE, Production) to achieve annual cost reduction targets.
- Prepare and present quarterly and monthly spend and savings reports.
- Ensure supply continuity during production ramp-ups and manage suppliers during slowdowns, including phase-in and phase-out plans for new and discontinued products.
- Facilitate timely delivery of qualification samples and communicate new development-related projects to suppliers.
- Ensure Procure-to-Pay (P2P) compliance for assigned BOM commodities, including payment coordination and issue resolution.
- Conduct vendor performance assessments through quarterly Supplier Rating System (SRS) reviews and supplier meetings.
- Assess supplier performance through quality system audits and process capability audits, and drive agreed-upon quality improvement programs.
- Manage and qualify supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, technology, and service to achieve a best-in-class supply base.
- Maintain close relationships with supplier key account managers and act as the focal point for supplier escalations.
- Perform supplier tiering to classify strategic, key, and commercial suppliers and develop appropriate sourcing strategies.
- Lead regular supplier performance scorecards and business review meetings.
