We are seeking a Radiological Engineer who will provide professional level support for the operation of a diverse range of radiological instrumentation to meet needs throughout Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Requirements
- BS/BA degree in science, health physics, nuclear engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related technical field.
- Five or more years of professional experience in health physics, nuclear engineering, nondestructive assay, or operational radiation protection.
- Demonstrated experience with nuclear measurements and gamma spectroscopy applications.
- Advanced degree in a technical science discipline or engineering with a concentration in health physics with four or more years of experience.
- Advanced computing skills, including data reduction, analysis, and presentation.
- Experience with spectroscopic radiological effluent monitors and other advanced radiological instrumentation.
- Knowledge of Mirion's Genie, In-situ Object Counting System (ISOCS), and Horizon software applications.
- Working knowledge of radiation detection instrumentation and principles of airborne radioactivity monitoring.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs.
