We are seeking a Senior Radiological Engineer who will provide expert level support for the operation of a diverse range of radiological instrumentation to meet needs throughout Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
Requirements
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert within the NRM Team for the Radiological Effluent Stack Monitoring Program.
- Develop and expand the stack monitoring program with the addition of future spectroscopic stack monitoring systems.
- Provide technical guidance for the operation of instrumentation within the Central NPRD Radiological Counting Lab.
- Assist in the development of In-situ Object Counting (ISOCS) models to evaluate complex assays and develop defensible estimates of the total measurement uncertainties in support of the NRPD Portable NDA program.
- Support the operation of the whole-body counting, lung counting, and wound counting capabilities, facilities, and instrumentation.
- Perform technical equipment evaluations and develop technical basis documentation for existing and future technology applications.
- Mentor less experienced radiological engineers within the group.
- Participate in incident/accident investigations requiring in vivo measurement and wound counting support due to potential intakes of radioactive material.
- Troubleshoot equipment and other technical issues as necessary.
- Participate in audits, inspections, verifications, and surveillances.
- Support other activities in the Nuclear Measurements and Analytical Services Group as needed.
