Community Worker

The Community Worker – Wrap Around Support (WAS) provides client-centred support at the Foster Farm Family House and Pinecrest Terrace Community House. This position will aide and assist clients in an empathetic manner to navigate city wide resources. The Community Worker will engage one-on-one with clients during food appointments, support them in registering for programming, provide information on available supports in a multitude of areas, support with client wellbeing, client-led research on computers, complete forms, and encourage and motivate clients to become self-supporting.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in health or social services, youth and childcare worker, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience creating a safe and inclusive environment, including virtual environments.
• Training and experience in-program planning, group facilitation and leadership development.
• Training/experience with in-person group facilitation or virtual programming on various virtual meeting platforms.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations in various capacities.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation, and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, climbing and repetitive motions could be required based on program responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.
• Fluency in English is essential; fluency in Somali, Arabic, and French is an asset; fluency in other languages is desirable.
