The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) is a state agency that regulates Texas's energy sector, overseeing oil and gas production, pipeline safety, surface mining, and alternative fuels. Established in 1881, the RRC has evolved from its original railroad oversight to become the nation's leading regulator of energy and mining industries. The Commission enforces stringent safety and environmental standards, while fostering innovation and market stability through transparent permitting and enforcement processes. Its unique blend of regulatory expertise, extensive data analytics, and stakeholder collaboration positions it as a cornerstone of Texas's energy economy.
