Staff Software Engineer - Payroll

Rippling is a company that provides a unified workforce platform for businesses to manage their HR & IT. The Payroll Run Management team is responsible for automating payroll operations for millions of employees across 40+ countries. The team is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to lead the architecture and development of scalable, high-performance systems to process large-scale compensation data and performance metrics.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering experience
• At least 3 years of experience in a role leading architecture, designing consumer-facing products, and building systems
• Strong proficiency in backend development, distributed systems, and large-scale data pipelines
• Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks
• Deep knowledge of building and scaling real-time, high-throughput systems
• Experience working on consumer-grade applications with a focus on intuitive user experiences
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with a passion for solving complex technical challenges
• Ability to convey technical concepts to both engineering and non-engineering audiences effectively
