The Director of Social Services role is pivotal in shaping and overseeing comprehensive programs that provide essential support to various community populations.
Requirements
- Develop and implement social service programs and policies.
- Supervise and mentor social service staff and volunteers.
- Coordinate with other agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive services.
- Assess community needs and develop programs to meet those needs.
- Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as necessary.
- Provide direct services to clients in complex cases.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Conduct staff training and professional development activities.
- Address and resolve client complaints and issues.
- Facilitate community outreach and education initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Advocate for social justice and policy changes at local, state, and national levels.
- Assist in the development, administering, and coordinating of department policies and procedures
- Participate in community planning related to the interest of the facility and the services and needs of the patients and family
- Manages discharge planning; development and implementation of social care plans and patient programs
- Supervises transportation to other facilities when necessary
- Refer patient/families to appropriate social service agencies when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the patient
- Provide information to patient/families as to medicare/medicaid, and other financial assistance programs available to the patient
- Interpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, patients, visitor, government agencies, etc
- Review and develop a plan of correction for social service deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such to the Administrator
- Review department complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports to the Administrator of action(s) taken
- Attends regular treatment team meetings to provide social work perspectives to total case management of the patient by discussing progress notes charts and communicating any state or local agency legal requirement for case management with the interdisciplinary team
