Job Description
The Safety Coordinator works collaboratively with the Safety Team to implement the health and safety management system for Victoria Shipyards Co. Ltd., initiating and monitoring safety initiatives, developing and implementing policy and procedures, and coordinating training. The Safety Coordinator will also work with the VSL Ability Management team and the Seaspan Labour Relations Specialist.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent education
- Minimum 3-5 years related experience in a Safety role, preferably in ship repair or heavy industrial setting
- Advanced Occupational First Aid Certificate and AED Certificate
- Hold or be in the process of obtaining a CRST or CRSP designation
- Strong leadership ability, rational judgement skills, excellent communication, organizational skills, and decision-making capabilities
- Computer literate with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office/Windows environment
