The Senator John Heinz History Center is Pennsylvania’s largest history museum and a Smithsonian affiliate, located in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. Its 275,000‑square‑foot, six‑floor facility offers interactive exhibitions that connect American history to Western Pennsylvania, including the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum and the Detre Library & Archives. The Center curates long‑term and rotating exhibits, preserves regional artifacts, and supports research, education, and outreach through archaeology, conservation, publications, and digital media. Its mission is to engage diverse audiences by linking the past to present and future, fostering a deeper understanding of American heritage through immersive storytelling and community partnerships.
