State Director, Georgia

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) seeks a Director for the Georgia State Office. The State Director will guide their state-based strategy in collaboration with other SPLC leaders and provide administrative leadership for the office locations. The State Director will also develop and maintain relationships with legal, policy, and advocacy groups, community organizations, and other key allies to build capacity and collaborate to advance solutions that dismantle systems of oppression and foster a culture that allows all residents to thrive.

Requirements

• Experienced in social justice/civil rights work, including a robust set of longstanding relationships and experiences with the Georgia racial justice movement ecosystem.
• Proven supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and conducting staff performance evaluations.
• Strong leadership profile, including practical experiences working with community organizations, impacted communities, policy, and grassroots within impacted communities in Southern Georgia.
• Demonstrated experience working on local government, policy, and grassroots advocacy in Metro Atlanta and Southern Georgia to connect residents with city and county officials.
• Ability to respectfully and confidently communicate verbally and in writing across lines of racial, cultural, and socio-economic differences.
