Job Description
Successful applicants for this position will be experienced teachers committed to designing dynamic, engaging, hands-on, student-centered classes that go beyond textbooks. The Summer Scholars program is designed to mimic, in every way, boarding school life. The goal of the program is to have Scholars leave the program feeling “known.”
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
- Current or former teacher with at least 3-years teaching experience at the secondary level (grades 6 - 12)
- Experience facilitating collaborative, discussion-based classes (Harkness method preferred)
- Subject matter expertise
- Knowledge/ability to create a student-centered, project/problem-based learning environment
- Proven ability to connect with Scholars ages 11-15.
- Ability to implement the Harkness teaching method
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
